Oromo refugees persecuted in Ethiopia-Somalia

After escaping Ethiopia, Oromia refugees were subjected to further human rights violations including being hunted by armed groups. Within the last two days, Somaliland Authorities destroyed belongings of refugees and asylum seekers outside of the Social Welfare Center in Hargeisa. They used bulldozers to clear the surrounding with armed men inside the Social Welfare Center.

Refugees and asylum seekers have also provided graphic photos of attacks by Somaliland authorities and armed groups resulting in injuries and deaths. These are being used in such as the report compiled by Dr Trevor Trueman, of the Oromia Support Group. The report includes individual accounts of torture on refugees and asylum seekers, many of whom are of the ethnic Oromo group.
